At Millbrook C of E Primary School, we believe the purpose of education is to nurture and develop the whole child: mind, body, heart and spirit, enabling them to thrive and to be the person they are fully capable of being; we believe that no gift is too small to be shared. Through our exciting curriculum and trust vision, we provide opportunities to break through barriers, increase resilience and place inclusivity at the heart of all we do. Pupil Premium is designed to help disadvantaged pupils of all abilities perform better and close the gap between them and their peers.
Whatever you bring, we will nurture it!
Our objectives are:
To remove barriers to learning
To broaden experiences and widen opportunities for children
To accelerate pupil progress and raise attainment
To prepare children for citizenship for their future role in society.
All Key Stage 1 (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) pupils are entitled to receive a free school meal. This is part of the Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) initiative and regardless of what benefits are being claimed.
Children who are eligible for pupil premium funding include children who are eligible for free school meals and children whose parent(s) are service personnel.
The easiest and quickest way to apply for Free School Meals and Pupil Premium is online.
Please make sure that you have checked the eligibility criteria before applying.
If you are unable to apply online, please call the Free School Meals team on 01872 323298. A member of the team will call you back to complete the application over the phone. Please make sure your phone will accept calls from a private / withheld number.
They will check your eligibility with HM Revenue and Customs, The Home Office and the Department of Work and Pensions.
They will email or write to you to let you know the outcome of your application. If you are eligible, they will give you the date your child’s free school meals will start. They will also notify us.
At Millbrook we use our pupil premium funding primarily to narrow the gap for disadvantaged pupils and to support them in making better than expected progress in comparison to their peers. The majority of our pupil premium allocation is spent on teaching and curriculum resources – providing small group teaching in addition to the class teacher and in class support. Additionally, funding is provided to support pupil premium funded pupils to purchase school uniform and to attend residential visits and trips and to attend breakfast and wrap around care.
Please contact the school office if you think your family may be eligible for pupil premium funding or need help applying.
